The ever-lovely and ever-talented Lee shines once again, this time trading in her Oz experiment for a more Alice-in-Wonderland theme. And I must say, the switch of topics suits her well. While I personally think the rabbit wig in this image makes her look more like a sheep, it's a minor technicality.
As with all her work, she brings a brazen, cute, sexy angle to this one. Maybe this rabbit isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea; but I would consider it an improvement over other versions I've seen.
In the rabbit's favor: this cosplay by Lee blows her Tin Man / Tin Woman completely out of the water.
It's simpler, but it hits almost every note. Sometimes, it's better to have an angel food cake that gets 8 out of 10 ingredients right, than a deluxe devil food cake with fruit filling middles and frosting with billions of decorations, and have the whole thing be a mess. Less ambitious, but spot-on is what counts. I am no stranger to seeing ambitious projects fail, and simple ones held in low esteem become popular. And I suspect she'll have similar experiences throughout her career.
The vision here is not entirely clear; but it looks promising. I have a lot more faith in this one than I did in the Tin Woman. I would have made the rabbit more rabbit-like, but I understand Lee's typical clientele are modeling agents and clothing brands; not Hollywood creature shop enthusiasts.
As for technique: the lighting has very, very few flaws. It conveys exactly the message it needs to. Sure, my IMAG 111 instructor from back in 2002 might have graded this one an F due to the right-hand bracelet being over-exposed, but I wouldn't sweat his opinion. This is a passing grade in most everyone else's book.
Impact....that one is always essential. Alice in Wonderland is a classic. As such, it's been done-to-death. Yet another White Rabbit interpretation is going to have a difficult time standing out from the crowd.
Without a sound recording, I am limited in capability to judge the range of Lee's acting. But I can tell she does her projects with heart; and would probably put her whole into this one if made into a film. If that's the case, she'll need good writers and a producer/director who really knows what he's doing. Her work would be wasted on anyone less.
I would have made her the White or Red Queen instead of the Rabbit, if I had a say in the casting department. But she does what she does fairly well anyway. Another great job, Lee. And I look forward to more.
