This piece offers quite a take on the classic Oz mythos, with the interesting and unusual choice of featuring a Tin WOman in one of the starring roles. It suggests an alternate take on the genre of an Oz-related production too, with the overpowering shadow and stark-blue highlights offering a gothic, "Underworld" type feel that similarly contrasts with the light-hearted feel that's usually expected of Oz-related material.

It would appear, however, that the set was limited in terms of camera angles permissible for the shot. And the overall sequence suffers accordingly. It would seem that the Tin Woman is supposed to be intrigued by what she discovers in the glass jar, tempted by it even.

But the angles chosen don't offer much glimpse into the sense of wonderment that she is supposed to have. A full-frontal facial shot would have conveyed this far better, even if in the cliche way that Aladdin discovers the lamp in the Disney cartoon.

We're left to wonder by the stoicism on her face if she is a hero or villain. The highlights on her face, while sharp, don't illuminate the eyes enough to offer much glimpse into her soul. Instead, the shadows appear to be too powerful. Some more midtone latitude could have helped this image's composition shine more effectively, and be less confusing to the viewer.

As much as I enjoy seeing Lee in her latest cosplay role, this one does not make the best use of her talents. Her Harley Quinn, for example, put her range of acting to use far better.

The gem is very interesting to look at, with its red suggesting either life or evil, with the viewer left uncertain.

There is a definite desire in this image to convey something, but not a lot of clarity on what that something is. It's about as original as an Oz derivative can be, and wins points for effort. More attention to lighting technique, and this shot would definitely score higher.

As for impact: I don't see this shot having as much potential as a lot of her other work. Even so, it is refreshing to see her try something different. And this may be a stepping stone to a masterpiece that is down the road a ways.

Keep up the good work, Lee. Acting is hard work, and this piece shows you're making an effort.
